Dear Capitol Multisporters,
You are invited to participate in the 2010 Race to End Violence taking place this October 9th in Concord Heights. We have an all new location this year (Dame Elementary School, Canterbury Rd) and with it a brand new flat course. It should be a fast 5k. Medals for top age group finishers, commemorative shirts for all, raffle prizes for the lucky. In our last race we had about 100 participants and we anticipate a similar size group this year. Big enough crowd to feel competitive, not so much you feel lost.
Proceeds from the Race to End Violence support the Rape and Domestic Violence Center of Concord. The Center acts as both an emergency shelter for victims of violence and an education and counseling service. With the generous support of the community they are able to offer domestic violence education classes to local high schools, respond to local hospitals to counsel victims, assist victims through the often difficult court processes, and educate legislators and policy makers about the causes and effects of domestic violence. If you are not able to participate in the race please consider an independent donation or participating in one of their other fundraisers. Their website is http://www.rdvcc.org.
As a fellow multisporter myself I can appreciate that you may have other disciplines or distances to be working on. Please consider working this 5k into your schedule. It happens to be the same day as Kona so get yourself psyched up to watch the big race by running this little one! Any questions regarding any aspect of the race course or the Crisis Center feel free to contact me at j.shepard.atty@gmail.com or 603-848-2871. If you own a business or have contacts interested in corporate sponsorship of this race we are also looking for that. I'll be seeing you at Timberman and hopefully on October 9th. Gotta go now. Need to get in a swim. Jim Shepard Race Date: October 9, 2010 10AM
